Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection

I had a really great stay at the Hotel Republic recently. Right when I walked in, I was struck by how beautiful the lobby looked with all the holiday decorations and it felt super welcoming from the start. The front desk agent was great, too; they got me checked in quickly and even upgraded my room since I have Marriott Gold status which I’ve noticed some Marriott hotels recognize, and others not so much. The room itself was nice. The king bed was actually way bigger than I expected, and I even had a slight view of the water, which was a nice surprise. One random thing I loved: the hot water in the bathroom hit the perfect temperature almost instantly. The whole place was clean and just really well laid out. I also spent some time in the lobby for the complimentary wine and grabbed food there twice. Honestly, the food was surprisingly good and the portions were huge. The location is also perfect if you like Little Italy; it’s just a short walk away. The only tiny thing was the scent by the elevators—it smelled good, but it was just a little too strong. Aside from that, the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 7 nights in December during the NeurIPS conference and had a great experience. The hotel has two restaurants - trade and topside - on the bottom two floors - and you get 25$ off daily if you charge the bill to your room. The hotel has a small gym with weights and treadmills, but they give you free access to the much nicer Balanced Health and Fitness right across the street. I really liked the sitting area right on the windowsill in my room on the 14th floor. The staff are all very courteous and take good care of the guests. There's a yoga class every morning which you can join. The ground floor was really well decorated for the holiday season.

This hotel was pleasant and well-maintained, with excellent service. The rooms were spacious and tidy. Housekeeping did a great job everyday. However, the shower design was a bit odd, as it wasn't fully enclosed, and the water pressure could have been stronger. The sink water also did not run warm. Most importantly, the 65$/day valet parking fee for hotel guests, even for Hilton members and business travelers, is atrocious.

Clean room, good shower! I travel a lot for work and am critical of cleanliness, bed comforts, amenities and room service/fiod quality. The food was good the first night. The second order was inconsistent and the dessert was uncooked. The staff was friendly. The windows seat was awesome! My room had adorable hotel postcards. The gym was nice and clean! My shower head dropped all night, but maintenance took care of it immediately.

The location is excellent. I stayed here for a night over the weekend. The staff at both bars was amazing and provided great service. The only issue I had was with the breakfast voucher (Titanium member). Even though the reservation was for two people and the welcome information flyer mentioned that it was for two, they only offered me one voucher. They said that since my wife wasn’t a Titanium member, she shouldn’t get a breakfast voucher even though the reservation was under my name. After a few minutes, they offered a “one-time exception” and provided a second voucher for the second person. This is something to consider when staying over the weekend, as the club lounge is closed for breakfast.

A beautifully decorated hotel with two restaurants. We enjoyed the social hour menu at both. Emma the server at Topside was really friendly and helpful. The social hour pizzas were awesome. Our room was clean and nice. The only thing we didn’t love was the loud bathroom fan which turned on and off with the bathroom light.

Stayed at Hotel Republic San Diego as the first stop of my trip and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent and very convenient — close to the train station, ferry, Little Italy, and the Gaslamp Quarter, all within walking distance. As a Marriott Platinum member, the check-in experience was detailed and thoughtful. The front desk went through every membership benefit and destination fee amenity, and I was upgraded to a corner suite for my birthday. The suite was spacious, with a large bathroom (shower + bathtub) and sunset views of planes landing over downtown — stunning! The destination fee is actually worth it here: bike rental with locks, access to a full professional gym across the street (with sauna), $25 F&B credit, and daily yoga. The rooftop restaurant/bar was another highlight — had a fantastic tequila-based cocktail with a great vibe surrounded by downtown’s glass buildings. Overall, boutique feel, excellent service, practical amenities, and very convenient location. Only small downside is no pool, but it didn’t affect my stay. Highly recommend!

The location is excellent — easy to get around and close to everything we wanted to do — and our Prestige Corner Suite was fantastic. The room felt spacious, well-appointed, and made the stay feel just a little elevated. One thing that really stood out was the daily room servicing, which honestly feels like a rarity these days. It was appreciated and didn’t go unnoticed. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We also enjoyed a meal at Topside Terrace Kitchen & Bar — tasty food, great service, and a wonderful view that made for a relaxing evening. Our only minor issue was the Club Lounge, which wasn’t stocked with snacks when we stopped in, though there was a decent supply of beverages available. All in all, it was a great stay, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit to San Diego.
